Our Missions

Faith Community Nursing Ministry

The heart of this ministry is what we do for others. We have monthly blood pressure screenings for the congregation. We attend the Men's Pray Breakfast to provide the men of the church with blood pressure screenings and specific talk time. The Sunday following the Men's Prayer Breakfast we provide blood pressure screening to the rest of the congregation before and after services. Community outreaches are accomplished with health fairs, specific talks, and providing community resources. The ministry is young and continues to grow. Please see Tammy Abraham or Beth Valvo if you have a need or would like more information.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is designed as an outreach to anyone with a specific need for prayer and comfort. Several ladies in the church knit or crochet shawls or lap blankets while at the same time praying for the specific prayer need of the individual. When finished the shawl or blanket is prayed over during a worship service before being given to the individual for who it is intended. We have received many testimonies of the comfort felt by prayer shawl recipients including several who took their shawls into surgery with them. If you have a need for a shawl or blanket, call Wendy Hoverter at 697-4504 or email at whoverter@ccpa.net

The Pray Shawl ministry will be hosting monthly knitting/crocheting Circle. Meets every 4th Sunday at 6:30pm. Great time to fellowship and work on current projects. Open to anyone who would like to learn to knit/crochet as well.

Softball Team

The Shiremanstown COG softball team joined the west shore churches slow-pitch softball league around 1995. We have many players from other churches who do not have enough players to field a team in the league. If anybody is interested in playing softball please see Kathy Anderson. Practices are the month of April and we play games May through July, usually one double header a week. We do a fundraiser every year to raise league fees for the following year.

Puppet Ministry

A puppet ministry was started in our church approximately three years ago. Puppets are a fun way to put a new face on faith experience. It can make a huge impact on the audience whether they be children, teens or adults. Puppets allow you to introduce creativity into your teaching and get others involved in ministry. Puppets make a "fun way" of presenting a bible lesson or a memory verse. Using puppets is a great way to spread God' s word.
